SPRINGFIELD RAIL

SPRINGFIELD RAIL

Another month and another rail session to organise. Now this one was a beauty. One of the longest straight rails in Milton Keynes, with some of the tastiest square cut steep stair set you can find.

We were not off to a good start. Mikey was properly ill and Milton's traditional snow blowing entrance and equipment was out of action, so we had to shovel everything into wheel barrows and transport it through Xscape to the van. Still come Friday night we were set for our 6.00am hook up with the team.

In the morning Mikey, Laura and myself met Phil, Streets, Nick and the local police for some questions. We said we were snowboarding, and promptly drove off. They started to follow, bemused as to what we were doing. Luckily a tramp going for a piss in the car park distracted them for a bit. But not for long. They tailed us, then pulled us. "We have had reports of a local rave, and a group of lads with Vans looks very suspicious." Luckily a flash of a our gear in the van and a discussion about hitting handrails with a load of snow provided enough information for them to give us the nod to carry on????

With all the guys working like clockwork we were setup in no time and hitting the rail just after 7.00am. Phil was all over it with some early attempts at boardslides. I was rapidly on his tail doing the same with Streets wondering what the hell he had got himself into. Then bang...Streets busts out a sweet as 50/50. We were blown away. He took a well earned breather as phil and I battled on. We just keep getting paid out as we get closer and closer to the end of the rail.

We decided to rest for a welcomed morning beer and assess where we're at. We then change things up and flip the drop down to other side of the stairs to hit the other rail. We were finding it little easier, but once again the slams were comming thick and fast. Then Streets busted out a sweet boardslide and we all go mad. Four seasons away had certainly made him shit hot.

So it was down to me and Phil. We kept battling on, taking hit after hit. I was getting away with murder as I did a 360 grind down the stairs after coming off the rail early and smashing my face into the rail as a bonus. I also recovered a crazy assed accidental nollie nose press that almost got me going face first down the stairs.

Streets joined in again, but got a harsh pay out on the bank, so he was out. Phil took a 2m face slide down the bank, so he was out to. I tried a few more times but I was just not quite getting to the end of the rail. It's was not looking like my day, so I quit before I left with a more permanent reminder of the rail.

So come 10.30am we cleaned up and toasting another wicked session with a chilled Carling. Special thanks to Mikey for getting the van and managing to fight off illness to film, drive etc. Nick and Laura for backup filming and support and Nat for some great pictures. So check the podcast video for all the action, and stay tuned as we organise something a little more mellow and fun in the next month.
