CASTLEFORD BURTON BLACK METAL

So it was off to the next Burton Black Metal held up at Castleford but this time with to MK riders. Jay was to be preoccupied with his two skies and a couple of poles and the direction he was going that he could not make it. So it was off to Cas on Saturday afternoon to make good time and book our rooms before getting kitted out and off to Snozone for a coloring competition. Once done we got our tickets and headed onto the slope.

The setup had been on the slope since Thursday and been freshly shaped for the comp. So there was no delay and the comp kicked off without a hitch. The queue was large but the rides managed to stay focused and bust out some wicked stylie tricks. I on the other hand butt checked the down rail trying a nose press and did my back in AGAIN!

Alex and Walshy on the other hand seamed to be getting into the whole comp thing until Walshy clipped his nose while throwing down a back 270 onto the rail which resulted in a gnarly slam onto his ribs. Badly winded and unable to move it took a while before we could get him off the slope for brief examination before sending him packing in an ambulance. Alex and I headed off to A&E to check out our fallen comrade. With loads of drugs and a wheelchair we wheeled Walshy back to the car for a not so eventful night. Get well soon Walshy.

BRAEHEAD BURTON BLACK METAL

A mission and a half to get up for this event. Four hours in traffic upto Huddersfield on Friday night. A stop over with the other half and few beers and we were off to bed and before we knew it we were up in the morning heading off for Glasgow.

Traffic was OK so we made it up in just under 4 hours. Got ready and hit the slopes at 7.30pm. Sadly the session was not so much of a jam, but rather a queue to hit some boxes. We ended up getting about 8-10 runs, so we had to have our shit on point. Nothing crazy got thrown down. Some nice jackson slides, fronstides, backlips, pretzel out etc etc. We were hoping to scrape it into the final, but we really needed a side on spin onto the main rail. I tried one cross over 270, but was not good, enough and with only a few runs I was not going to waste precious time hoping to nail a new trick.

Then come 11pm we were in the car and off back to the south. Got back to Huddersfield at 3.30am. In bed then up and off to Milton Keynes to teach for the evening. Eventually made it home at 11pm Sunday night. Weekend over ahh... Looks like Back 2's and front 2's will be order of the day at Milton to prepare for the next one. We also have a load of footage for our new camera girl, Laura, so we should have something for the next podcast. See you.
