Various Urban Sessions

Hemel Hempstead - Jan 2006

It has been ages since we did any kind of urban session, and even that one was onto a flat rail. So now it was time to step it up. With the clear out of snow from Milton Keynes, it was time to make a move. Mikey managed to negotiate a van from work for the weekend. We picked the snow from Milton on a Saturday night in prep for a setup Sunday morning a 5.30am. Yep 5.30. Must be mad.

Luckily the crew at Milton blew all the snow into the van as it would have taken us all night to fill the van, and believe me they did fill it for us, which was wicked.

So we all managed to get up at 5.00am and start setting up just after 5.30. It was not too bad. Took us about 1.5 hours get all the snow setup, then a load of run downs to bed the snow in an get the speed right for the take off. I thought we would need a large kicker, but it was spot on. Dendix was also handy for the landing and the takeoff. Plus we had a couple of small crash mats just in case someone decided to go touring off towards uncovered concrete.

This rail was a good start for us, as it was out of town and we could do what we wanted without being hassled. A few guys came over to have a chat to find out what we were doing, which was funny.

No body killed themselves either. My first run slam was hardcore. Luckily we had bent flat the 6 inch spike that was left from an older rail. Otherwise I may have had a nice hole in my back.

We ended up hitting it until about 10.00. Hoping for another session soon as that was well good fun and not as scary as we all first thought.

Thanks to the crew and Milton. Have a look at the other guys sections for more pics etc. - Jay

A nice van load of snow. Just what you need.

The setup. A good long run in with a speaker and a bit of wood with dendix for a kicker and some snow on the landing zone.

First one to hit the rail and a nice hard slam straight away. Not a great start.

Managed to finally get something down.
